Vertical Platform Lift (“VPL”)

Installed Price for a New Vertical Platform Lift starts at $8,015.

Vertical Platform Lifts* are commonly used to carry riders in wheelchairs to raised porches, decks, and stages in homes, schools, businesses, and Churches. Customers often choose a vertical platform lift instead of a ramp because the footprint of a platform lift is approximately 48” x 60” with a weight capacity of 750 lbs.  Ramps to be ADA compliant must extend out twelve inches for every one inch of rise. For example: a porch that is three feet above the ground would require a ramp length of thirty-six feet plus landings. The vertical platform lift goes up and down with a button push.

Options with a vertical platform lift include remote call/send control at each landing so additional users can call the lift to their floor, a landing gate to prevent accidental falls off the top landing, and a platform gate to prevent falls from the platform if a rider becomes dizzy or faint.    In the Heights, Bellaire, Braeswood, and other areas of Houston prone to ground flooding, houses have been raised several feet off the ground creating a need for vertical platform lifts to carry persons with mobility issues, groceries, pets, and heavier items from the garage to the main living area.  Schools often use vertical platform lifts so that all students can access stages.  Commercial uses of vertical platform lifts include anywhere stairs are a barrier to access for all customers.  Churches often use vertical platform lifts so all parishioners can access the pulpit or stage.  Please note that all vertical platform lifts we install have a safety pan on the bottom of the platform to stop the lift if it encounters anything underneath it automatically.  Due to safety reasons, we will not install a vertical platform lift with an open diamond platform where the rider is required to stop the lift if there is any obstruction.  The view of a wheelchair or scooter rider is obstructed by the mobility equipment they are riding, and they cannot see objects, persons, and pets under the lift.
