Stair Chair Lift (Stair Lift)

Stairlifts can fit on stairs as narrow as 24”. They can go on straight stairs, stairs that bend and turn, spiral steps, outdoor steps, residential stairs, and commercial stairs.  Over the last 26 years, we have never seen a set of stairs that we cannot put a stairlift on.  Stairlifts range in rider weight capacity from 275 lbs. to 600 lbs. 

All stair lifts in the United States must meet the safety requirements of ASME A18.1-2020.  Therefore, all chair lifts must have a safety belt, safety sensors in the footrest to prevent crush injuries, safety sensors on the side of the carriages, and a seat swivel safety sensor to lock out the controls when the seat is turned at the top landing.  Also, all stairlifts come with two remotes.  For example:  In a household with two riders, if one rider rides the stairlift up the stairs, the other rider can call the stairlift with the remote to the lower landing to ride the stairlift up the stairs.  Unlike 20 years ago, all chair lifts on the market today except for one are battery operated.  Oftentimes, customers believe that the chair lift runs off a 120 VAC standard household outlet.  The charger is plugged into an outlet that automatically charges the batteries whenever the chair lift is parked on a charge contact.  The batteries normally are good for two to four years.  In Houston, a big exception is when a customer unplugs the charger during a power outage caused by a Hurricane or Freeze but does not turn the carriage off.  This will damage the batteries. Straight Chair Lifts can usually be installed the next day in approximately 2 hours.  Curved Chair Lifts are manufactured specifically to fit your stairs.  The manufacturing time can take 2 to 12 weeks.  Installation usually takes 3 to 4 hours.  We represent all manufacturers of stairlifts, including Access, Bruno, Handicare, Harmar, Merit, Savaria, Stannah, and SHC*.  We base our recommendations on which stairlift is best for you on your height, weight, physical abilities, and budget.  We also consider the quality, reliability, and parts availability of the stairlift manufacturer.
